Long Tong is the traditional New Year festival of Tay people and some other tribes. It is held to make honor to Goddess and Lord of the village and nature, to open a new season of agriculture and to make wishes of an abundant harvest and health to villagers.

The frame for worshipping is made of U-shape bamboo, U-shape bottom and about 1 m height, 40 cm wide.

Scarified objects are put on the worshipping frame, including a bowl of water, a dish of red sticky rice, a dish of yellow sticky rice, boiled chicken, a skew of grilled fish, boiled chicken blood, a sharp knife, a bunch of new textile fabric, 2 yellow paper fishes, 2 red paper owls, two inflorescences with rice burns on bananas plugs. At the end of the worshipping frame puts.

A gong rings and the opening worshipping begins. The sorcerer starts the sacrificed ceremony. The sacrifice content is the wishes of good harvest of rice without the worms; stream full of fishes, house full of buffalo and pigs, chickens and ducks filled courtyard, healthy people, house full of children, no sickness or disease.... Offering completes, the sorcerer hold a bowl of water in one hand and a knife in another hand, he slides the knife four times over the bowl, cuts along the eight cardinal directions. Then he sprays the water from his mouth and throws the silver coins to four directions.

After finishing the ceremony in the main sacrifice frame, the sorcerer makes worshipping at the feet of the columns of the festive tree, also known as cay con, made from 1 tall tree with a wooden circle on the top. After the worshipping, he throws 2 fabric balls to the boys in the village to catch.

The one who steals the first ball can throw the ball through the circle. If the ball can make the paper in the circle torn, the man will be granted with 4 folds of red garments. The sorcerer then will cut out the ball to derive the nuts inside. The nuts are mixed with a basket of dried rice and will be thrown to the crowd who attend. Everyone wants to take much inspiration.

After the worshipping ceremony, there will be many folk games to be organized. The music performance is also a distinctive piece of art of Tay people. Everyone is excited to join the activities and they live the festival until late afternoon.
