Those values are now maintained as tourism attractions of this city. The first to count is Hue Citadel Complex, where was designated as the World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. The Hue Citadel was built in Nguyen Dynasty in the beginning of 19th century. The layout of the complex includes the Citadel, the Imperial City and the Forbidden City (or The Interior). The Hue Citadel was completed in 1832 under King Minh Mang Dynasty. It is comprised of Flag Tower, Long An Place, Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Phu Xuan Communal House and some other places separately sitting within the city now. The Imperial City features the Main Royal Gate, Hien Lam Pavilion and the The Places of Worship and Living of the Kings and Royal Family. The Forbidden City is the living place of the royal family, including buildings for working, entertainment, important meetings, etc.Inseparably with the Hue Citadel Complex is the King Tombs located in the countryside area of the city. The highlights with the impressive architecture and structure are King Gia Long Tomb, Ming Mang Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb and Khai Dinh Tomb. These sites can be considered the masterpieces of ancient architecture and arts in Hue, with the design of the whole complex as a royal park. Mountain, hills, river, plants and engraved stone works were artistically organized with ech other to create a refined and unified construction.Hue Royal Ceremonial Music (Nha Nhac) is also a cultural values preserved from the past. It was recognized by UNESCO as the Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005. This court music used to be performed in the important royal events From Nguyen Dynasty in 13th century to Tran Dynasty in 20th century. The music requires well trained and skillful musicians to deliver a genuine and formal performance. Nowadays, it is popularized in the international events, especially Hue Festival, and sometimes in some small open theater for tourists as a way to promote Hue tourism.Another popular tourist attractions in Hue City are Thien Mu Pagoda, Truong Tien Bridge, Garden Houses and Huong River. Thien Mu Pagoda lies on a small hill right on the bank of Huong River, about 5 km from Hue center. The Pagoda features 7-storey Phuoc Duyen Tower which has become the symbol of Hue tourism. Truong Tien Bridge over Huong River was built by French under Thanh Thai the 9th Dynasty in 1897 and completed in 1899. It is not only recognized in architecture as a masterpiece but also the historic site remarking Vietnam wars and revolutions. Garden House is the typical structure of Hue ancient living place, formerly for the mandarins and prosperous merchants, which is the harmonious arrangement of plants and bonsai surrounding the house that fits the architecture of the house and helps to ventilate the entire space. Traveling by dragon boat on Huong River is also an fantastic experience for tourists to enjoy the poetic countryside scenerary, the sunset and daily life of local people along the banks of the river.Last but not least, traveling to Hue City will be incomplete without enjoying Hue food, which became the exquisite art of cuisine. Hue City cuisine can be classified into Imperial cuisine and ordinary cuisine. The Imperial cuisine should be healthful, eye-catching and delicious. The Imperial food was originated from the ordinary dishes yet modified and renewed by the talented royal chefs.
